NeuroSoc are having a Denim Day 4 Dementia this Friday 6th March! The Alzheimer Society of Ireland are having a national Denim Day where they encourage everyone to pull on their favourite pair of jeans, denim jacket or denim shirt and donate €2 to support people living with dementia. Of course we will have a little added incentive for those of you who are kind enough to don your best denim in support of this great cause. We are also holding a raffle, with prizes including vouchers for Dough Bros, Busker Browns, Mr.Waffle and lots of other goodies up for grabs - sweets and treats are a given! All proceeds will go to the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland, you can donate at one of our 3 collection tables - in the Human Biology Building, at Smokey's Cafe on the concourse and at the bottom of the stairs at the entrance to the Bialann! We are also hosting a talk by Western Alzheimer's about Living with Dementia... "2 guest speakers Hannah Kent and Tom McCann, from the organizationWestern Alzheimer's, who will share their experiences as nurses in dementia care. They will provide insight into the daily lives of the patients in their care, the effect Alzheimer's has on the family of the patient, and the overall support the organization provides. Please come along to learn more about Alzheimer's from the perspective of care providers, who see the different manifestations of the disease every day." The talk will be held from 1pm-2pm in the Large Acoustic Room in Aras na Mac Léinn with a Q&A session at the end - all welcome. All YOU need is to do is wear your favorite denim clothing and bring along €2 to one of our THREE COLLECTION POINTS - HBB, SMOKEYS CAFE OR BIALANN to help support an excellent cause! If anyone would like to volunteer and help out on the day we would be more than grateful to have you on board, people to help out at one of the desks or if you're a keen baker and want to contribute to the treats on offer on the day that would be great!
