CUMAS Society

The Cumas Society, led by students of the Cumas Programme, is built on the core pillars of the Cumas programme. Our mission is to promote inclusion, amplify student voices, and strengthen a connected, inclusive community at the University of Galway.

1. Raise Awareness and Foster Education

Through campaigns, events, publications, and creative initiatives, we will showcase what true inclusion and belonging look like for adults with intellectual disabilities     in higher education.

2. Strengthen Connections Across Campus

We will create opportunities for collaboration and friendship between Cumas students and the wider student body, cultivating a culture of openness, respect, and support.

3. Empower Students and Build Community

By uniting students who are passionate about inclusion, advocacy, and social engagement, we will create a platform for meaningful connections, shared learning, and personal growth.

4. Provide a Voice and Influence Change

The Cumas Society will represent the voices of students in the Cumas Programme, sharing lived experiences that can shape and improve the university’s future. Together, we will help the University of Galway grow into a more inclusive institution—one that learns from us, and with us.

This society is not just about inclusion—it’s about leadership, advocacy, and belonging. Together, we will continue to build a future where everyone belongs and every voice is heard.
