This semester, the Paediatrics Society is focusing on fundraising for the local organisation, Barretstown, which offers free camps and medical care for children who suffer from serious illnesses. Their amazing efforts and services towards children inspires our society to contribute to their cause. Since Barretstown operates fully on donations, fundraising events are of great help to them. As Valentine's day was approaching, it was only appropriate for us to organise a fundraising event. The spirit of love and giving back rang true to our goal to actively be a part of the enhancement of the wellbeing of kids. By holding a bake sale and "Candy for a cutie", we succeeded in both achieving our goal, as well as raising awareness in relation to our cause. The poster encourages fellow students to support our bake sale and "Candy for a cutie". "Candy for a cutie" provides opportunity for students to send personalised packets of chocolates and letters to their peers. The packets were curated by members of the society. We wanted this event to embody the essence of fun by incorporating puns and jokes in the packets. Soft colours and fonts resembling handwritings paints a relaxed and casual event to make students feel more welcomed, hence, making them more willing to get involved. The phrase "Love is sweet, enjoy a treat" further draws people in. This Valentine's day event started on the 12th of February with signups for "Candy for a cutie" and ended on the 14th of February with the bake sale and delivery of the personalized packets. It garnered a huge amount of support, allowing us to raise a total of €565.
