We are delighted to kick off this semester's speaker series with Áine Brazil, a Civil engineering graduate of NUIG. As a chartered engineer, Aine is a fellow of Engineers Ireland and vice chair of Thornton Tomasetti, a New York engineering firm. Her years working in NYC has led to many highly acclaimed for the design and construction of many New York City high-rise offices and residential buildings such as playing a leading role in the structural engineering teams for the almost seven million square foot Hudson Yards Development on the west side of Manhattan and the new LaGuardia Central Terminal Building. Aine was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering (one of the highest professional distinctions awarded to engineers), in 2018 for her leadership in the design of innovative buildings and contributions to engineering literacy. Come join us on Tuesday the 25th of Janurary to hear Aine's story of how a woman from Galway became one of the top civil engineers in New York!
