For me, freedom is found in travel: it's an opportunity to experience new environments and move away from the usual patterns of our lives. Movement gives us the chance to observe the world and ourselves from different perspectives. Through this photograph, I wanted to capture the feeling of openness that comes with being somewhere unfamiliar, where there are no expectations and no fixed identity attached to us. Travelling gives us the chance to just be, to discover the world and ourselves with fresh eyes. In my photo, the vast and peaceful landscape represents physical and emotional freedom, the ability to simply explore and fully exist in the present moment without limits. This photograph was taken in Castelluccio di Norcia, Italy, one of the most incredible places I've ever visited. Being there felt like stepping into freedom itself, with its infinite fields and mountains. This place embodies the sense of openness that is conveyed through the Irish word "saoirse" and the Italian "libertà", which is, in my personal understanding, freedom not only of movement, but of our minds.
