Guest Speakers: Israel-Palestine: The Relevance of International Law

The Palestine Solidarity Student Society and Irish Centre for Human Rights are honoured to host the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, Francesca Albanese who has extensive experience working in the field of human rights and with Palestinian civil society and special guest speaker Omar Barghouti.
Francesca Albanese who has extensive experience working in the field of human rights and with Palestinian civil society. She was appointed the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, by the Human Rights Council at its 49th session in March 2022 and has taken up her function as of 1 May 2022.
Omar Barghouti is a Palestinian human rights defender, co-founder of the Palestinian-ledBoycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement and the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI). He is a recipient of the 2017 Gandhi Peace Award. The event will occur in the HBB G019 Large Lecture Theatre.
