We are a student activist group in the University of Galway dedicated to the right to self-determination and freedom of the Palestinian people. We regularly organise talks and hold film screenings to increase awareness of the suffering of the Palestinian people under Israeli's policies of occupation and colonialism.
We are currently fighting against the greenwashing and acceptance of the University's deal with Technion. Technion is an Israeli Institution that aided in the development of weapons of destruction and torture against the Palestinian people. Since 2025, the President(s) of the University has evaded all accountability despite the breach of trust and morals they preach.
Through our efforts, Students' Union joined the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement in March 2014 after a student plebiscite endorsed by 64% of those who turned out. That being said, the university accepted a deal with Coca-Cola in the coming year, going against the student body's intrest.
We worked with the SU to promote the economic, academic and cultural boycott of Israel which Palestinian civic society has called for since 2005 due to Israel's continued flouting of the precepts of international law towards Palestine.
The BDS campaign on campus takes in aspects such as putting pressure on the university authorities to cancel their contract with G4S, the security company present on campus who are notorious for its provision of security and incarceration services to apartheid Israels prisons.
All are welcome to get involved! If you've got any ideas on building the Palestine solidarity movement on campus, we'd love to hear from you!
