Yalda Night, or Shab-e Yalda, is an ancient Persian celebration marking the longest night of the year, which falls on the winter solstice. Families and friends gather together to stay awake late into the night, sharing stories, poetry (especially Hafez), nuts, and seasonal fruits such as pomegranates and watermelons. The celebration symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and the renewal of hope as the days begin to grow longer.
